Greenspector Studio enables a multi-criteria assessment of the environmental impacts for any digital services over the entire life cycle.
Our exclusive methodology is the fruit of 12 years of R&D. Rigorous and precise, it is compatible with recognised standards.
Impact is evaluated based on measurements of user journeys in real-life conditions (terminals, networks) with direct measurement of the energy consumed, providing unrivalled accuracy on the market.
Quantifying impacts is good, understanding what causes them is better. With Greenspector Studio, really understand what can be improved.
Our methodology starts with measurements on real terminals during a user journey. It includes direct measurement of energy consumption, data volumes and other indicators. We then apply our proprietary impact model to convert these measured metrics into environmental impacts.

Energy consumption on the user terminal is a key factor in the impact of a digital service. If you don’t have this measurement, a large part of the digital service’s behaviour is simply ignored. Impact calculations are imprecise, and above all the resulting actions can be unhelpful or even counter-productive. With Greenspector Studio, you can be sure of detecting the real causes of impact so that you can reduce them effectively.
Our impact model enables multi-criteria analysis using the following indicators :
* criteria used by ADEME for the Digital Services Product Category Standards, based on the European PEF (Product Environmental Footprint) methodology
The apparent simplicity of the ecoscore masks the complexity of the principles that govern it.
In a few words: each step of the User Journey is evaluated along 3 axes: display time (= performance), energy consumption, data consumption. The results of the measurements taken throughout the journey are translated into a score from 0 to 100 for each of these 3 areas. The Greenspector Ecoscore is the average of these 3 scores*.
* Actually, 2 ecoscores are calculated for each user journey: one for the critical steps of the journey, and one for the non-critical steps. The final ecoscore is the weighted average of 70% (critical) / 30% (non-critical) of these two ecoscores.
If the ecoscore of your user journey is greater than 50 out of 100, you can ask us to certify your measure in order to obtain our Certificate of Sobriety for your application.
Your measure must comply with the Certificate specifications.
After approval, we issue you with the Certificate, a badge that can be used on your website or in your app, linked to an authentication page hosted by us.
The results provided by our impact model can be used directly in your greenhouse gas accounting or in a LCA. They are provided with the uncertainty associated with each value.
Your measurements contribute to the Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) by providing an accurate assessment of the impacts on the user side. This greatly improves the reliability of LCAs, which are generally based on macro projections (e.g. the average energy consumption of a smartphone, not the actual consumption of the application being assessed).
The impact model integrated into Greenspector Studio is accessible via API. This enables advanced use (recalculations, hypothesis testing, etc.) or integration with your other tools.
For over 12 years, we have been innovating in the measurement and evaluation of the impact of digital services. Our work has been the subject of numerous scientific publications and conference presentations. For example, in
To ensure that the ecoscore was as reliable as possible, the […] teams relied on […] Greenspector, which provides a reliable assessment of the environmental impact of a healthcare application.
Greenspector is based on measuring the actual use of the application throughout its life cycle, rather than simply calculating the environmental impact of loading the home page.
