Context
Redesigning OUI.sncf with digital sobriety as a requirement
SNCF Connect & Tech led the redesign of the OUI.sncf app, used by millions of people to book train tickets.
The project had significant business stakes, with a clear ambition for sobriety and ecodesign from the design phase.
The goal was to improve the user experience while reducing the environmental impact of application journeys, especially on the TER booking journey.
Results
−19% CO₂ and a journey 8 seconds faster
- 19% less CO₂ on the TER booking journey.
- A user journey 8 seconds faster.
- 300 KB fewer requests per booking, approximately 9 TB per year.
- Two applications certified Silver level, for Android and iOS.
Keys to success
What made the difference
An audit before go-live
The application was audited before go-live to identify the main improvement levers.
Concrete improvement areas
Several optimisation paths were identified, especially on geolocation and data loading.
Implementation by the project team
Recommendations were taken on board by the project team, then followed up with a new measurement to verify the gains achieved.
An approach integrated throughout the project
Performance control and digital sobriety were integrated into requirements from the design phase and throughout the project.
Testimonial
Sébastien Gobin speaks
« From the design phase and throughout the project, we integrated performance control linked to a sobriety approach into our requirements. With Greenspector, we were able to add measurement, work on optimisations while continuing to raise awareness among our teams on the subject, for a very encouraging result. »
